On Wednesday, February 17, 2021 Rosalie Ann (Wilson) Barrett passed away at the age of 82. She was born on October 6, 1938 in Watseka, Illinois, the daughter of Ferris and Verna Mae (Dickinson) Wilson. Rosalie married Paul E. Barrett on October 7, 1956 in Chandlerville, Illinois. He preceded her in death on February 17, 2012.
Rosalie was also preceded in death by her parents, one son Michael Barrett and one brother Richard Wilson.
She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Patrick Barrett of Saint Petersburg, Florida, her daughter Paula (and Mark) Pigg of Ipava, Illinois, two grandchildren, Dalton Taylor of Astoria, Illinois and Demi (and Jake) Leake of Canton, Illinois, two great-grandchildren, Aidan Taylor and Noah Taylor, her brother Rick (and Donna) Wilson of Clearwater, Florida and her sister-in-law Joyce Wilson of Titusville, Florida. She will also be dearly missed be her numerous relatives and friends.
Rosalie was a devoted Mother and Grandmother. She was a wonderful cook. She always wanted to get the family together for the Holidays. She was known for her kindness and always doing for others.
Rosalie was very involved in the community. She served as President of the Spoon River Drive and was the area representative for Astoria for several years. She also was a member of the Astoria Merchants Association. She owned a clothing store called "My Place" for many years in Astoria. She was well known for her sidewalk cafe every Summer.
After selling her long owned business, Rosalie worked at Astoria Gardens and Rehab Center.
She was a member of the Astoria United Methodist Church.
Rosalie's grandparents, Ray and Nellie Wilson, started their business, Wilson Famous Shows, in the early 1940's. Their carnival always played the Astoria Homecoming every September and in several other Illinois cities for years.
Services for Rosalie will be held on Saturday, February 27th at 2:00 p.m. at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. David Little will officiate. There will be no visitation. Interment will be in the Astoria Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Rosalie's memory may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association, 912 Killian Road SW, Lilburn, Georgia. 30047. Their website is www.Lbda.org
