Glasford- Virginia Ruth (Scott) Hedges, 94, of Glasford, passed away at 9:40 AM on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at The Loft in Canton. She was born on November 9, 1924 in Pleasant Township, IL to Jasper and Sada (Landis) Scott. She married Harlan John Hedges for 72 years. He preceded her in death on February 8, 2019.
Virginia was also preceded in death by her parents, one son, Roger Hedges, two brothers, and three sisters.
Surviving are two children, Bonnie (Randy Joe) Cremeens of Canton and Alvin Hedges of Murphysboro; six grandchildren, John (Sarah) Eveland, Bill (Christina) Eveland, Chris (Amy) Marshall, Randy (Renee) Eveland, David (Jenni) Knowles and Richie Hedges; 12 great-grandchildren, Maggie and Sada Eveland, Taylor and Rilea Marshall, Matt, Josh, Jessica Eveland, Warren and Vincent Eveland, Cadence and Kerigan Knowles, and Emma Hedges; and two sisters, Francis Henderson and Audrey Apple.
Virginia was a past president of the VFW Womans Auxiliary. She was a homemaker and lived on a farm all her life. She loved to garden and did a lot of canning. Virginia also loved to go dancing and listen to old county music. Most of all she loved to cook for her family almost every Sunday and spending time with them. Family was everything to her.
Services will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, March 10, 2019 at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, IL, where a visitation will be held from 1-2 PM. Pastor Rebecca Gearhart will officiate.
