Canton – Elaine L. Scott, 83, passed away on March 24, 2019, at the Graham Hospital in Canton.
She was born on March 1, 1936 in Canton to Melvin and Clela (Welker) Phalen. They preceded her in death.
She married Junior Scott on June 14, 1953 in Macomb. He survives.
Also surviving are two children, Connie (John) Reissen of Canton, Robert (Debbie) Scott of Dunfermline, four grandchildren, Chrisie (Mark) Hahn, Adam Scott, Adrien Scott, Austin Scott, four great grandchildren, Aliyah Logsdon, Hailie Hahn, Adison Hahn, Greyson Scott and one nephew, Larry (Mary) Lindsey.
Also preceding her in death is one brother, Leo Phalen and two sisters Maxine Lindsey and Jeanette Phalen.
Elaine worked in the water department for the City of Canton for 25 years retiring in 1991. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Canton where she served as a Sunday school teacher and was active in the Vacation Bible school program. She enjoyed bowling and going out dancing with Junior.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Canton from 5-7 pm. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 29, 2019 at 11:00 am, at the funeral home. Rev. Monroe Bailey will officiate.
Burial will be held at White Chapel Memory Gardens.
Memorials may be to First Baptist Church, First Baptist Church Food Pantry or the St. Mary’s Food Pantry.
