Joe L. Simpson
Canton – Joe L. Simpson, 90, of Canton, passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Renaissance Care Center in Canton. He was born on February 3, 1928 in Rushville, IL. He was the youngest son of Glen and Zella (Skiles) Simpson. On October 22, 1949 he married Estelle Barnett who survives and lives in Canton.
Also surviving is his only daughter, Sharon (Steve) Ladd of Ft. Worth, Texas; granddaughter, Stacey (Scott) Butler of Houston; grandson, Stephen (Marisa) Ladd of Austin, Texas; and five great-grandchildren that Joe adored, Chloe, Bryce, Nathan, Tyson, and Savannah; nephew, Larry Simpson of Canton; nieces, Victoria Yeager of Texas and Debra Sheel of Missouri.
He was preceded in death by both parents, and his brothers, Newton and Victor Simpson.
Joe worked at IHC for 35 years. He was a member of the Nazarene Church in Canton. Joe loved the outdoors and all water sports. He enjoyed camping, but fishing was his passion. He loved to travel with his wife. Together they visited 48 of the 50 sates as well as Mexico and Canada. He also attended Canton Schools.
Joe served in the U.S. Navy.
Joe requested to be cremated and not to have services at this time. There will be a memorial service and burial of ashes at Greenwood Cemetery in Canton, IL at a later date. Cremation rites will be accorded with Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, IL.
