Canton, MO – Dorothea “Bernita” Copenhaver, 95, formerly of Canton, IL, passed away on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at the Lewis County Nursing Home in Canton, Missouri.
She was born on May 31, 1923 in Fiatt, IL to Albert and Ella Marie (Dunton) Casson. They preceded her in death.
She married Kenneth Copenhaver on April 10, 1943 in Hannibal, Missouri. He preceded her in death on October 3, 2001.
Surviving are her children Charles “Wayne” (Orlita Kissane) Copenhaver of Richmond, Indiana, Ardith (Ronald) Geier of Williamstown, Missouri, two grandchildren, Eric (Becky Foulk) Geier of Dunfermline, Alice (Mike) Plemens of Wimauma, FL, five great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death are three brothers and five sisters.
Bernita was a homemaker and helped on the family farm. She was a member of Shields Chapel United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women where she held many offices. She also taught Sunday school, both children and adults. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
Services will be 11 am, Monday, November 12, 2018 at Shields Chapel United Methodist Church with a visitation one hour prior also at the church.
Burial will follow at Shields Chapel Cemetery.
Memorials can be made to her church.
