James Johnson

Farmington – James R. Johnson, 77, of Farmington, passed away at 12:52 PM on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center. He was born on May 4, 1941 in Glasford, IL to Homer B. and Margaret (Scott) Johnson. He married Jane Lightfoot on October 2, 1963 in Farmington, IL, she preceded him in death on October 16, 1997.

Surviving are two children, Steve (Liz) Johnson of Farmington and Mary (Cheryl Hemme) Cruise of Colombia, MO; five grandchildren, Kevin (Kelli) Cruise, Kathy Cruise, Brady Johnson, Jayme Johnson, and Sydney Johnson; one great-grandchild, Evelyn Cruise; life partner of 21 years, Vonnie Lockwood; Vonnie’s two children, Tim (Darlene) Bird, Sara (Jerry) Johnson; and Vonnie’s granddaughter, Jacqulyn (Chris) Preston.

James was preceded in death by his parents, two brother, and five sisters.

James worked at Caterpillar and later worked at Keystone Steel and Wire where he retired on June 1, 2003. He was a life member of the Farmington Moose Lodge and also a member of the Farmington Masonic Lodge. James loved spending time at Hiram Walker Rod and Gun Club in Farmington and also loved to go camping.

Services will be held at 3 PM on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Anderson-Sedgwick Funeral Home in Farmington, IL, where a visitation will be held from 1-3 PM. Moose rites will be held at 2:30 PM and Masonic rites will be held at 2:45 PM. Rev. Dr. Linda Philabaun will officiate. Burial will follow services at Oakridge Cemetery in Farmington, IL.
