Vera Maxine Ford
Smithfield- Vera Maxine (Little) Ford, 90, of Smithfield, passed away peacefully in her sleep September 10, 2018 at her home.
Maxine was born April 12, 1928 to Lee and Letha Mae (Henderson) Little in Canton, IL. She married Henry H. Ford on February 15, 1947 in Keokuk, IA. He preceded her in death on November 21, 1984. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Jo Ann Bishop, one brother, one sister, one granddaughter, and one great granddaughter. Her survivors include four sons, Dr. Harold (Arlene) Ford of Geneseo, Lee (Linda) Ford of Smithfield, Henry Alan (Sue) Ford of Lewistown, and Robert (Cindy) Ford of Forrest, one daughter, Carolyn (Kenneth) English of Bushnell, one son-in-law, Harold Bishop of Cable, OH; and one sister, Dorothy Burnett of Canton. She greatly enjoyed her 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and 3 step grandchildren.
Maxine was a member of the Smithfield Brock United Methodist Church, a board member of the Cuba Senior Center, and was active in the Red Brick School of Smithfield. She was an avid cookie cutter collector, and a member of the National Cookie Cutter Collector Club. She was adamant about hand quilting each grandchild, great grandchild and great-great grandchild their own baby quilt. She enjoyed games of all kinds, especially cards, and country and bluegrass music.
Services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba where visitation will be held Friday from 5-7 PM. Burial will be in Howard Cemetery.
