St David – Kathe Madras, 92, of St. David, passed away at 6:52 pm, Monday, August 31, 2015, at the Heartland Health Care Center in Canton, surrounded by 3 generations of family.
She was born in Beerfelden, Germany, March 5, 1923 to Adam and Anna (Miller) Helm. She met the love of her life, Willie Madras, during WWII. Kathe came to the USA on August 26, 1949 and married Willie on September 3, 1949 in Lewistown. He preceded her in death February 6, 1989.
Surviving are one daughter, Christie (Jimmie) Maier of St. David; 3 granddaughters, Sonja (Jessie) Wright of Bryant, Michelle (Cory) Sanders of Prescott Valley, AZ., and Angie (Michael) Byrns of Canton.
Also surviving are 5 great grandchildren; Layne and Hannelore of Canton and Michaela, Canon, Cason of Prescott Valley, AZ. And one great grand dog Aikane Wahani of Bryant. Also, many relatives in Germany and niece Valerie (John) Klinefelter of Fair Oaks, CA. survive.
She was also preceded in death by her 2 parents, 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
Kathe worked for her family’s photography and ivory carving business in Germany. She also worked at the Canton Daily Ledger as a dark room technician and at the Allison Studios in Canton.
She was of the Christian faith. She was an avid gardener, excellent cook and the best mom and Oma in the world. She always put her family first.
Per her request, there will be no visitation. Family will celebrate her life privately.
Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Buckheart Fire Department or the Humane Society of Fulton County.
