James T. Nate
Canton- James T. Nate, 94, of Canton passed away at 5:31 AM Friday September 4, 2015 at Graham Hospital in Canton. He was born December 24, 1920 at Macomb the son of Threll and Elsie Pearl (Murphy) Nate. He first married Margaret Jean Weaver and they had one daughter, Lynda Bates of Canton and she survives. He later married Jeanette A. Duda and she preceded him in death. He was also preceded by his parents, three sisters, Mildred Barrett, Mary Dietz, and Francis Nate, two half-brothers, Tom Nate and Patrick Nate.
Also surviving are one step son, Kenneth (Rose) Janois of Carson City, NV; two grandchildren, David Bates of S. Dakota, and Todd (Rachel) Bates of Canton, five great grandchildren, Kirsten (Matt) Stambaugh, Justin Bates, Hailey Bates, Ryan Bates, and Kyle Bates, one half-brother, Jack Nate of Texas, and one half-sister, Dorothy Morrison also of Texas.
James retired with 35 years of service from United Airlines in San Francisco where he was manager over aircraft maintenance. He was a WWII Navy veteran serving from 1942-1946. He was an avid reader and enjoyed fishing, stamp and coin collecting and walks along the ocean.
Cremation will be accorded. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday September 12th at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown with Reverend Danie deBeer officiating. Military services will be conducted at the cemetery by the Lewistown VFW Post 5001 and Lewistown American Legion Bishop Post 1. There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to Graham Hospice. Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.henrylange.com.
