Joyce A. Bowton

Joyce A. Bowton, 83, of Canton, passed away, Monday, August 7, 2023, at Graham Hospital in Canton. She was born on April 7, 1940, in Canton, to Russell and Nellie (McElory) Kinzer. They preceded her in death. Joyce married Charles Bowton on January 7, 1959. He preceded her in death in 2012. She is survived by her three sons, Marty (Lisa) Bowton of Canton, Timothy (Tammy) Bowton of Canton, and Aaron (Mary) Bowton of Lake of the Ozarks Missouri, ten grandchildren, two step grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and six step great grandchildren. Also preceding her in death is her daughter, Jody (Bowton) Shockency, seven brothers, Bill, Jack, Bob, Rick, Ronnie, Kenny, and Dale, and three sisters, Alice, Nelda, and Helen. Joyce retired from Graham Hospital from the housekeeping department. She later worked at Heartland Healthcare in Canton. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and she enjoyed her lunches with her classmates from high school. Joyce enjoyed fishing at Lakeland Park and gardening. The most important thing in Joyce’s life was spending time with her children and all of her grandchildren. Cremation rites will be accorded and a burial of ashes will be held at Foster Cemetery on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
