He lived the simple life, kind of a loaner. He was a father, son, husband, brother and brother-in-law. He served six years in the U.S. Army Reserve and later worked for International Harvester for 30 years and retired from the Ohio Truck Plant. After retirement he enjoyed hiking and walking. He walked the Appellation Trail twice and hiked in Alaska seven times. He also ran some over 20 mile marathons in Ohio. He was also influential in forming the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office underwater search and rescue team. He enjoyed going on vacation in his motorhome with his wife Carol.
Per Jerry’s wishes cremation rites have been accorded through Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Canton. There will be no services. His ashes will be spread at Harper’s Ferry in West Virginia.
