Linda is survived by her husband David; two daughters, Kari (Brendan) Murphy of Leesburg, VA and Erin (Sam) Clayton of Morton, IL; four grandchildren, William and Daniel Murphy, and Coraline and Stella Clayton; a cousin, Martin Moore of OH; and sister-in-law, Susan Christensen of Springfield. Linda was preceded in death by her parents; her son, James “Jay” Christensen, her mother and father-in-law and her aunt, Arlene Moore.
Linda was a member of the Petersburg United Methodist Church. She taught elementary school in the PORTA School District for 34 years before her retirement. Linda was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother, a very loyal friend and a beloved teacher. She wrote notes of encouragement to others at just the right time using the perfect words. The highlight of her week was joining her retired teacher friends at coffee group and also when the birthday group gathered. Linda was an avid reader, loved musical theatre and retail therapy and of course spoiled her grandchildren well and often. A plaque that hangs on one of her home’s walls reads “Petersburg is my heart’s home.”
