MASON CITY, IL – Phyllis (Wasilewski) Kneedler, 93, went home to meet her Lord on May 20, 2022 at the Villas West in Sherman IL with the loving care of her family, staff and hospice.
Phyllis is survived by three daughters: Carol Kneedler of Springfield, Mari Whitney (Richard) of Mason City, and Cathy Hobart (Doug Nicodemus) of Riverton; three siblings: John (Joan) Wasilewski, Larry Wasilewski, and Mary Wells. She adored her seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frank in 2011 and by parents Stanley and Mary Wasilewski and siblings Robert “Tommy” Wasilewski, James Wasilewski, Winnie Tobias Downey and Carol Baugher.
She was born September 20, 1928 in Athens, IL, the daughter of Stanley and Mary (Brackhan) Wasilewski. Phyllis married Francis Albert Kneedler on January 21, 1949 in Athens, IL. She was an executive of Illinois Bell Telephone, later AT&T, for 35 years, retiring in 1983. She was active in her community: serving on the Mason City Library Board, the Community Choir, and the Mason City Women’s Investment Club. She was a member of the Illinois and Emiquon Audubon Societies. She volunteered at the Mason City Area Nursing Home, Illini Central Grade School, Community VBS, and was active in both the Christian and the Assembly of God Churches. She loved her family, gardening, birding, reading, and Jesus. She thought the best of people and treated everyone as a person of value.
Memorial Services will be at 11am, Monday, May 30 at the Mason City Assembly of God church in Mason City, IL, with visitation from 10-11am. Memorials may be made to the Audubon Society, the Mason City Illinois Public Library or to the Mason City Assembly of God Church. Hurley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. www.hurleyfh.com
