Frances J. Scalf

Canton- Frances J. Scalf, 91, of Canton, passed away at 3:35 AM on Sunday, May 22, 2022 at Graham Hospital in Canton. She was born on August 25, 1930 in Delevan, IL a daughter of Jacob and Alice (Fisher) Martin. She married the love of her life, Robert Scalf on July 3, 1948 He preceded her in death on November 3, 1987.

Frances is survived by one daughter: Valerie (Bill) Pogeman of Fort Worth, TX, three grandchildren: Bill Pogeman Jr of Lake Worth, TX, Eric Pogeman of Haltom City, TX, and Mike Anderson of Canton, IL, one great-grand-child: Jace (Mattie) Anderson of Springfield, IL, one sister; Darlene Spiesz of Pekin, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by both parents, one daughter: Leigh Ann Anderson, one brother: Robert Martin, and two sisters: Marlene Johnson and Dixie Bugg.

Frances worked as a secretary at Farm King for 25 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Canton. Once a month Frances would go to lunch with her co-workers, and her free time was spent doing what she loved; loving dogs, working outside in her yard, sewing, and loving her grandkids.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, IL. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, IL. Pastor Brandon Theobald will be officiating.
