Joyce Marie Grogan-Galloway

Joyce Marie Grogan-Galloway, 78, of Petersburg, Illinois, formerly of Tallula, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2022, at Sunny Acres Nursing Home. She was born February 25, 1944, in Springfield, Illinois, the daughter of Floyd and Eva (Buhl) Grogan Sr.

Joyce graduated from Tallula High School. She married William “Bill” Galloway in 1985 and he preceded her in death in 1993. She worked for the Illinois Secretary of State and later retired from a data entry position with the Illinois State Lottery. She had a passion for dog training, bowled for many years, enjoyed working on crossword puzzles and word searches and also enjoyed playing poker at family gatherings. She loved to travel to Florida to spend time on the beaches with family and also loved to travel to the Lake of the Ozarks.

Joyce is survived by her children, Kaye (Evan) Haynes of Ruskin, Florida, Tammy (Jeff) Ruppel of Petersburg, and Richard (Michell) Lynn of Tallula; two step sons, Kurt (Dawn) Galloway of Egan, Minnesota, and Steven (Dianne) Galloway of Chatham, Illinois; siblings, Shirley (David) Walden and Floyd (Connie) Grogan; grandchildren, Michael Haynes, Kaitlyn (Bryce) Bailey, Skyler (girlfriend Hannah Mutch) Ruppel and Alan Lynn; step grandchildren, Michelle (Chris) Lehnhoff, Lauren Galloway, Alyssa (Brandon) Peterson, Matt Galloway, Collin Watkins and Rachel (Justin) Smith; great grandchildren, Hudson Lehnhoff, Kennedy Lehnhoff, Olivia Peterson, Sarah Haynes, Toby Haynes and Victoria Haynes; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Joyce is preceded in death by her parents; husband; a grandson, Ryan Haynes; a sister, Ruby Ford; and her two beloved dogs, Patches and Trixie.

A visitation will be held on Friday, May 13, 2022, from 10 am to 12 pm at Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg, Illinois. The funeral service will follow at 12 pm at the funeral home. Joyce will be laid to rest next to Bill at Chatham Cemetery in Chatham, Illinois, following the funeral service.
