Frances L. Hartle, 95, of Canton, passed away at 3:20 AM on Monday, February 28, 2022 at Graham Hospital in Canton, IL. She was born on November 1, 1926 in Farmington, IL to Tony and Olga (Delak) Kauzlarich. She married Ray Hartle on July 13, 1947 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Rectory in Canton, IL. He preceded her in death in 2008.
Frances is also preceded in death by her parents, two children, Patricia Widger and Jerome Hartle; three brothers, Joe, Julian, and Frank Kauzlarich; and three sisters, Rose McMeen, Margaret Wilson, and Anne Wolf.
She is survived by four children, Marianne (Victor) Pilkinton of St. David, IL, Dennis (Wanda) Hartle of Savannah, TN, Bernard and George Hartle both of Canton, IL; and one sister, Berniece Young of Florida.
In her younger years she enjoyed league bowling, playing cards and bingo. She was a very good cook and always invited visitors for something to eat. She was a past member of The Altar & Rosary Society and volunteered at the St. Mary’s food pantry and at the Y.W.C.A. for the noon meals. She was also a boy scout leader in the 60’s. In 1971 she obtained her lifelong goal of becoming a nurse (LPN). She was also a member of Young at Heart HEA.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM on Friday, March 4, 2022 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Canton, IL. A visitation will be held from 9:30 AM -10:45 AM the same day in the Parish Hall. Father Daniel Ebker will officiate. Burial will follow services at St. Joseph Cemetery in Canton, IL. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph’s Indian School P.O. Box 326 Chamberlin, SD 57326.
