Gordon Ray James, 71, of Canton passed away at OSF on October 31st 2020.
He is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Vickie of red oak memory care in Canton, sister Lynn (Steve) Clayberg of Florida, and one son Christopher of canton.
He was preceded in his death by his parents and brother Jerry Dale Poppelston.
Gordon worked for the Fulton county health department as a public health educator and communicable disease coordinator for 25 years after a career in radio at WBYS in canton.
Gordon was a fierce fighter for social justice equality, especially LGBT issues. He loved gardening, making the world a better place for others, and showing others how much they are loved and deserving of love.
Cremation rites have been accorded, after his remains will be used to help others and science. Due to the ongoing Covid 19 pandemic, there will be a celebration of life at a later time.
