Beulah “Bea” Marie (Shipman) Lane

Beulah “Bea” Marie (Shipman) Lane, 87, of Canton, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, October 31, 2020. She was surrounded by family and loved ones singing praise and worship over her as she entered eternity. Bea was born August 17, 1933 in Cathage, IL to Zeke and Alleyne (Smith) Shipman. She married William E. Lane on July 20, 1952 in Carthage, IL. He survives.

Also surviving are four children, Rhonda (Tom) Weers of Canton, Karen (Norm) Churchill of Canton, Bruce (Amy) Lane of Bloomington, IL, and Cyndie (Kevin) Rees of New Albany, IN; seven grandchildren, Sara Hammond, Jean (Chris) Jokisch, Aaron Haacke, TJ Weers, Mary Rees, Justin Lane, and Kevin Rees; three great-grandchildren, Tay Hammond, Christopher Jokisch, and Lilah De Jesus. Also surviving is one brother, Michael “Butch” (Missy) Moore; two sister-in-law, Joan Baker and Sandy Shipman; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Ronald Shipman and Wayne Shipman.

Bea graduated from Graham Nursing School as an RN in 1971. She worked at Graham Hospital in the OB nursery as head nurse, taught LPN’s and CNA’s at Spoon River College, worked as a travel nurse and was employed by several nursing homes in Canton. She also served as an assistant pastor for Fresh Fire Church under Pastor Vicki Rilea.

Bea and her husband, Bill were dedicated servants of Christ, sharing their faith through a music ministry, giving to those in need, and offering love and support to their community. Bae has been a force to be reckoned with her entire life and a mighty woman of God who loved Jesus more deeply than we can convey. Her love for her family and others has known no bounds, nor has her quick wit and resounding laughter that could fill a stadium! She was a fierce worshipper who is now worshipping in the presence of her Savior and King! He no doubt greeted her with open arms, declaring “well done My good and faithful servant!!”

The family would like to express their utmost thanks to the staff at Graham Hospital, Hospice Compassus, Canton Rescue Squad, Pastor Vicki Rilea, and all of the friends and neighbors for all of the care, love, and support.

Cremation rites will be held with Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, IL and a celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Please respect the family’s safety and privacy at this time. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity in Bea’s honor.
