Billy Joe “Hoss” Burnett, 47, of London Mills, passed away at 11:02 PM on Thursday, June 11, 2020 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center. He was born on April 29, 1973 in Peoria, IL to Dave Sturgis and Debra Burnett. He married Ana Garcia on October 8, 2016 under the walnut tree. She survives.
Also surviving is his father, Dave (Shirley) Sturgis; mother, Debra (Jim) Dildine; six children, Brittany (Shawn) Hilligoss, John Burnett, Wyatt Burnett, Alex Keith, Bradyn Carroll and Avery Carroll; two grandchildren, Ayla Hilligoss and Addy Jackson; two brothers, Nick (Allison) Sturgis and Ron (Bobbie) Burnett; two sisters, Toni Sturgis and Nikki Sturgis; two step-sister’s, Melissa (A.C.) King and Jennifer Hillyer; two step-brothers, Jake and James Dildine; grandmother, Helen M. Sturgis; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins whom he loved greatly.
Billy was preceded in death by his grandmother, Beulah L. Burnett; two grandfathers, Richard M. Burnett and Harry F. Sturgis.
Billy worked as a truck driver for many years. He loved riding motorcycles, playing with his boys on dirt bikes, and four wheelers. Billy was known for his story telling and great sense of humor. He also had a contagious laughter and special blue eyes.
A celebration of life will be held from 4-7 PM on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at Riverside Park in London Mills, IL.
