Samuel “Sam” Lee Laswell
Canton – Samuel “Sam” Lee Laswell, 85, of Canton passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2020, at Renaissance Care Center in Canton.
He was born on September 12, 1934 in Smithfield, Illinois, to Lee Ernest Laswell and Loretta Rae (Brill). They preceded him in death.
He married Wilma (Bobzin) on July 2, 1955 in Canton. She preceded him in death on June 15, 2012.
Surviving is one daughter Betty (Curt) Walters, two granddaughters, Rebecca (Eric) Glenn, and Tiffany (David Contreras) Cox, and one great grandson on the way, Caden Contreras, five nieces and nephews, Ruth (The Late Jerry) Stanton, Pat (Carl) Brown, Ollie (Rick Danner) Shannon, Marilyn (John) Frank, and Charlette Church.
Also preceding him in death are four siblings, Arnold Laswell, Ward Laswell, Vernie Poole, and June Walton, three Nieces and nephews, Debbie Laswell, David Laswell, and Edward “Ed” Laswell.
Sam retired from International Harvester, and later did yard work. He was an avid fisherman he enjoyed going to Minnesota and the Mississippi River. He enjoyed wood working making many different pieces of furniture. He also enjoyed spending time at Russell’s Auto, and socializing at Hy-Vee.
Due to COVID – 19 Mandates, a private graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Canton. A Facebook livestream will be on Saturday, April18, 2020 at 2:00 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to American Cancer Society.
