Canton – Betty Lee Downing, 95, of Canton, passed away Friday, June 21, 2019 at Graham Hospital in Canton.
She was born on September 3, 1923 in Lewistown, to Frank and Bernice (Chambers) Hughes. She married Albert Downing on April 1, 1943 in Palmyra, Missouri. He preceded her in death on January 31, 1990. Also preceding her in death were her parents, one brother Gene Hughes and one sister Ruby Herriford.
She is survived by three nephews, one niece, and several great nephews and nieces.
Betty worked for numerous insurance agencies in the canton are for over 30 years. She volunteered for many years at the Christian Service Program.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 24, 2019 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Canton at 11:00 a.m., where visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
