Canton – Ruth W. Radunzel, 88, of Canton, IL, passed away at 6:34 AM on Monday, November 13, 2017 at Sunset Manor in Canton, IL. She was born on August 31, 1929 in Jackson, Michigan to Linwood & Lois Whitcomb. On June 18, 1949 she married the love of her life Fred E. Radunzel at the Little Home Church By The Wayside in Wayne, IL. He preceded her in death on January 16, 2000.
Ruth was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Bruce Whitcomb, son, Fred W. Radunzel and daughter, L. Jane Radunzel.
She is survived by three daughters, Susan (Dave) Schwab of Littleton, CO, Beth (Bill) Richards of Canton, IL, and Julie (Mike) Loucks of Scheller, IL; 11 grandchildren, Kelly (Heath) Heimlich, Tara Mulligan, Sosanna Luke, Corey Mulligan, Brad (Karla) White, Angela (Ed) Keeran, Christopher (Sarah) Radunzel, James (Marya) Radunzel, Fred (Nicole) Radunzel, Joseph (Rachel) Hattendorf & Ellie Hattendorf. Also 20 great-grandchildren, and one brother -in- law, Robert Radunzel.
Ruth retired from JCPenney in 1994 after enjoying her job for 15 years. After retiring she volunteered at Graham Hospital Gift Shop. She and Fred were members of both the Canton Country Club and Wee-Ma-Tuk Hills Country Club for many years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Canton since 1958, and served as a deacon for several years. Ruth enjoyed traveling, bible study, and reading.
Services will be held at 12 PM on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, IL, where a visitation will be held from 11 – 12 PM. Rev. Tim Bauler will officiate. Burial will follow the services at White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton, IL. Memorials can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
