Jack L. Danner
Jack Louis Danner, age 84 of Astoria, IL, passed away at 3:55 am on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at the Havana Health Care Center in Havana, IL. He was born on May 26, 1933 in Minonk, IL, the son of Galyn and Christene (Bucher) Danner. On February 6, 1953, Jack married Linda Hamblin in Astoria. She survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Debra Bailey of Havana, Anita (and Steve) Burget of Havana, and Patty Kolves of Astoria, three grandchildren, J.R. Bailey, Gabrielle Palmer, and Zachary Kolves, one great-granddaughter Lily Bailey, and his sister Sandra Howell of Astoria.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Vickie Spires.
He was an Army veteran, serving from 1953 to 1955 in the 964th Engineer's Company with a rank of Corporal.
He was a member of the Astoria American Legion Post #25 where he was a Past Commander. He was also a member of the Lewistown VFW #5001 and the Operating Engineer's Local #974 of Peoria, IL.
Jack was a heavy equipment operator.
He raised German Shepherds for over 40 years and enjoyed drawing.
Services will be held on Monday, November 13th at 7:00 p.m. at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Pastor Gary Sheets will officiate. Military rites will be conducted by the Astoria American Legion Post #25. Visitation will take place from 5-7 p.m. prior to the services. Memorials may be given to the Astoria American Legion Post #25. Cremation rites have been accorded.
