– Charles “Pete” G. Staten, 82, of Canton passed away at 11:20 AM
Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Sunset Nursing Home, Canton.
He
was born October 23, 1932, in Dupo, IL to John E. and Bertha (Hickman)
Staten. Pete married Ada Jones on December 10, 1999 in Kingston Mines.
She
survives along with one step-son, Dustin Jones of Canton; three
grandchildren, Lori (Kalson) Abel, Eddie Kalson Jr, and Mark Byers; and
two great grandchildren.
Preceding
him in death were his parents; two step-children, Vickie (Kalson) Rilea
and John Byers Jr.; one brother; and seven sisters.
Peter worked at Caterpillar Tractor Co. for over 30 years retiring as a Millwright.
He was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict as a MP.
He was a member of Canton American Legion Post #16, VFW Post #1984, and 40 and 8 Voiture #812.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 18th at Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home, Canton with visitation one hour prior. Rev. Dave Utt will officiate.
Burial, with Military Honors, will be in Kingston Mines Cemetery.
