Lewistown- Stephen Orfans, 90, of Lewistown, passed away at 8:14 PM Monday January
12, 2015 at Graham Hospital.
He was born
August 30, 1924 at Canton, the son of Emil and Zelma (McKinney) Orfans. He
married Faye McCarty on November 11, 1951 at Peoria. She survives with one
daughter, Cindy (Randy) Arnett of Lewistown, four grandchildren, Lisa (Todd)
Clay of Mapleton, Michael (Carrie) Ward of Crystal Lake, Nick Arnett of Urbana,
and Jase (Candis) Arnett of Canton, two great grandchildren, Cailee Budd and
Christopher Ward, and one sister, Evangelia “Sis” Gordon of Benton. He was
preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers.
Steve owned
and operated Steve’s Package Liquor in Lewistown before retiring in 1987. He
was a WW 2 Army veteran, and a member of Lewistown VFW Post 5001, American Legion Bishop Post 1, and the NRA. Steve
was a man of many interests, talents and strong opinions. He was an World
War II army veteran, successful business owner, farmer, loving husband
and family man. He loved reading, woodworking, fly tying, fishing,
horses, sprint car racing and any John Wayne movie ever made. He managed
to spend the last 25 years of his life retired with his wife, J. Faye Orfans, pursuing
his many varied interests. He had a teasing, fun spirit and an infectious
laugh that brightened the spirits of all around. He is very loved and
will be greatly missed.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday at
Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown where visitation will be held Thursday
from 5-7 PM. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery with Military rites conducted
by his VFW and American legion Posts. Memorial contributions may be made to the
