Cuba – Donald L. “Doc” Ball, 80, of Cuba passed away at 1:08 PM Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Unity Point-Methodist in Peoria.
He was born August 9, 1934 in Canton to Lawrence and Helen (Johnson) Ball. Doc married Mauricette Bontemps in 1958 in France.
She
survives along with four children, Patrick (Lori) Ball of Vista, CA,
Ronald (Anita) Ball and Rodger (Julie Foster) Ball both of Cuba, and
Michele (Harold) Smith of Canton; 7 grandchildren; 4 great
grandchildren; 1 step great grandson; 2 brothers, Kenny Ball of
Galesburg and Lyle Ball of Fairview; and three sisters, Charlotte Hill
of East Peoria, Elenor Hahn of Galesburg, and Vivian Harr of Canton.
Also preceding him in death were his parents; 2 brothers; and 1 sister.
Doc worked for Briggs Manufacturing in Abingdon for 45 years.
He was a member of Fox Hunter’s Association.
He enjoyed riding horses, fast pitch softball, hunting, and fishing.
Services will be at 3:00 pm Friday, January 30th at Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home, Canton with visitation two hours prior. Rev. Andrew Fife will officiate.
Burial, with military honors, will be in White Chapel Memory Gardens, Canton.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
