Calvin Jay McLouth

Canton – Calvin Jay McLouth, 91, of Canton, died at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Graham Hospital in Canton.
He was born in Buckheart Twp., Fulton Co. on December 23, 1923 to Marshal and Almeda (Brown) McLouth.
He married Jane E. Lyddon on June 10, 1950 in Canton. She preceded him in death on December 5, 2014.
Surviving are three children, Beth E. Moreland of Washington, Daniel J. McLouth of Mapleton, and Michele “Shelly” McLouth of Canton; one sister, Charlotte Negley of Norris; two grandchildren, Jacob (Jennifer) McLouth and Sarah (Ryan) Green; two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Luke; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother Lorrin McLouth, one sister Helen Post and one nephew, Bruce Negley.
Jay was a member of Monterey United Methodist Church. He had worked as a coal miner, working at Little Sister, Truax-Traer for a total of 46 ½ years retiring from Consol in 1987. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran serving in World War II. He was a 65 year member of the Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Peoria, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, an avid gardener and traveled around his yard on his lawn mower. His highlight was participating in coffee at McDonalds twice a day.  Most of all he loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, January 31, 2015, at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton, where visitation will be held from 9 am -10:30 am at the funeral home.
Burial with military honors will be at White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton.
Memorials may be made to Monterey Church or the Illinois Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
