Lawrence A. “Luke” Marinich
Dunfermline – Lawrence “Luke” Marinich, 94, of Dunfermline passed away at 5:20 pm, Monday, January 6, 2020 at the Graham Hospital in Canton. He was born on August 10, 1925 in Dunfermline to Anthony and Justina Dorich Marinich. Luke married Shirley Henderson on April 26, 1958 in Canton. She survives along with four children; Patty (Brad) Vignassi of Pekin, Tony (Linda James) Marinich of Bartonville, Rose (Nick McClure) Norville of Peoria, and Joanne (Brian) Nell of Fairview, sister Mary Payne of Dunfermline, ten grandchildren; Christopher, Nathan, Luke, Jeremy, Jessica, Katelin, Amy, Amanda, Ben, and Danny, five great-grandchildren; Angel, Raven, Aidan, Peyton, and Ella. Preceding him in death were his parents, brother Frank Marinich, three sisters; Helen Williams, Agnes Essex and Teresa White.
Luke worked at International Harvester Company for 38 ½ years. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in St. David, board member of the Dunfermline School and Village board, Buckheart Fire Department and the Croation Lodge. He enjoyed doing many things such as playing cards, horseshoes, and baseball where he played in the Night Hawk League. He was a WWII Navy veteran, serving from 1943 – 1946. Other hobbies included woodworking and reading. Luke was known for his handyman skills and could fix about anything. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m until 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 10, 2020 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton. A Rosary service will be at held at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. A graveside service will follow the Rosary service at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Canton with military honors. Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Donor’s choice.
