Canton – Rayma Lee Newman, 85, of Canton, passed away Sunday, November 10, 2019, at her home in Canton.
She was born on March 27, 1934, in Jasper County, Iowa to Raymond and Lois (Hennaman) Holcomb.
She is survived by her husband, Marvin Newman who she married on December 13, 1952 in Marshalltown Iowa.
Also surviving are five children, Gail (Johnny) Sale, Dan (Debra) Newman, Wendy (Robin) Raymer, Linda (the late Matthew) Dunlap, and Jeremy (Deborah) Newman, one sister Janet (Bob) Turner, thirteen grandchildren, Jessica (Tony) Trad, Jenise (Chris) Jones, Jordan (Kelly) Sale, Janna (Darek) Kaminski, Jameson (Sierra) Sale, Jonathan (Kyra) Sale, Miranda Raymer, Isabelle Raymer, Brooklyn Raymer, Solomon Dunlap, Ava Newman, and Isaac Newman, eight great grandchildren and two on the way, one sister in law, Anita Holcomb, and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her parents, one brother Cleon Eugene Holcomb, and one granddaughter, Jocelyn Sale.
Rayma was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, she enjoyed talking to people about the Bible, traveling and scrabble. Rayma was well known for her generosity, hospitality, and cooking, especially her chocolate cake. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.
A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Canton on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. A visitation will be held at the Kingdom Hall the same day from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Cliff Smedstad will officiate the service.
