Gerald “Jerry” Allen Hart, 80, of St. David, passed away at 7:31 PM on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his loving family . He was born on September 21, 1939 to Rolland Wesley and Darlene Dixie (Milos) Hart. He married Mary Jean (Malone) Hart on September 16, 1966 in St. David. She survives.
Also surviving are five children, Dixie (Raschell Harrison) Hart of Canton, Becky (Roger) Sappington of St. David, Richard, Rick, and Gary Terry all of Canton; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ron Hart of Indiana and Calvin Hart of Breeds; two sisters, Elsie (Dave Woodson) Hart of Bellevue, and Maxine (Mike) Welker of Canton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Mark Hart and John Mitchell Hart.
Jerry worked for PT & W Railroad, Illinois Welding and Machine in Hanna City, The Village of St. David, and retired from Caterpillar. He enjoyed camping, fishing, golf, and working on cars and lawn mowers. Most of all he loved spending time with his Grandbabies.
A celebration of life will be held at the St. David Optimist Club on Saturday, December 7, 2019 starting at 12:00 PM (Noon). Cremation rites will be accorded through Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton. Memorials can be made to Rosalyn Eleanor Sappington, Buckheart Fire Department or Compassus Hospice.
