CANTON – Gerald A. Little, 93, of Virden, formerly of Canton, passed away at 3:40 on Friday, April 1, 2016 at the Sunrise Skilled Nursing Center in Virden. He was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on June 9, 1922 to Fred and Marie (Hughes) Little. He married Carla Nuvoloni on April 11, 1946 in Verona, Italy. She preceded him in death.
Surviving are one son, John (Melissa) Little of Virden; two grandchildren, Caitlin Little and Maia Patino; and two great grandsons. He was also preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Albert, Paul, and Richard Little; and two daughters; Lucia and Luciana Little.
Gerald retired from Keystone Steel and Wire in Bartonville, Illinois. He was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Canton and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. George Council #3934. He served in the United States Army during WWII.
Gerald also was a greeter at the Canton Walmart for many years, and enjoyed being a driver for the local car dealerships in Canton
Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 AM on April 9, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Canton, where visitation will be a half hour prior. Father Daniel Ebker will officiate. Cremation Rites will be accorded following the services. Burial will be at a later date in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Canton.
