Jim was an Army veteran who served during the Korean Conflict. After the military he worked as a cowboy, wrangling cattle on ranches in Fulton County. Jim started Widger and Sons Roofing and was a foreman at International Harvester Company. He helped build and later managed Midwest Horse Spa, a training facility for harness horses. He trained horses until his retirement. Jim loved to bowl in leagues and play cards with his brothers. His life ended the same as it started, making sure everyone else had whatever they needed.
