Helen was born December 4, 1935, in Brimfield, to Furnard and Anna (Mader) Turner. Helen married Robert Shields on June 17, 1952, in Peoria. He preceded her in death on February 14, 2011.
Helen is survived by six children, Diane (Frank) Jones of Bartonville, Ellen (the late Charles) Kirk of Canton, Sue (Ron) Junod of Jacksonville, FL, Cindy (Mark) Cinnamon of Shabbona, IL, Sherry (Marvin) Zilch of Farmington, and Kathy (Doug) Troop of Oak Hill; one sister, Florence King; one daughter-in-law, Brenda Bennett; one son-in-law, Mark Edwards; and one sister-in-law, Rosemary (Larry) Mills.
Helen is also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Robert Bennett; one daughter, Debbie Edwards; three brothers, Chuck Turner, Don Turner, and Johnny Turner; and one sister, Velma Payton.
Helen was an Assembler for LR Nelson for 40 years.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home. A visitation will be held prior to the service the same day from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow at Southport Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Serenity Point Hospice.
