William Douglas “Doug” Lovell, 60, of Canton, passed away at 7:33 PM on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Unity Point Health Methodist in Peoria. He was born on July 8, 1960 in Avon, IL to Robert and Esther (Munson) Lovell.
He is survived by his mother; three children, Adam Lovell, Wes (Sara) Lovell, and Jordan Lovell; three grandchildren, Lincoln, Raeland, and Max Marie; and three sisters, Valerie (Howard) Wilson, Bobbi Jo Munson, and Jeanne Martin.
He is preceded in death by his father.
Doug served in the Army from 1978 to 1985. He then served the Marines from 1985 to 1991. He was a state correctional officer from 1991 to 2001. He rejoined the military in 2004. He served in Iraq in 2005 as an MP in the Army and had numerous awards to include his combat action badge. Doug came from a military family and served his country proudly. Family meant the world to Doug, and his favorite time was spent with his family. He loved being a father, but loved more being a grandfather. He was born into a Cubs family and made sure that passion for the team was passed on to his children. He was a simple man that took enjoyment out of very simple things.
