Robert L. Long, 71, of Farmington, passed away at 8:15 AM on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at his residence. He was born on March 21, 1949 in Canton, IL to Lester and Frances (McCartney) Long. He married Wanda Schnetzler on June 16, 1973 at the First Presbyterian Church in Canton, IL. She survives.
Also surviving are two children, Leslie (Daniel) Gorsuch of Canton, IL and Julie (Joel Bridges) Long of Peoria, IL; three grandchildren, Alexander, Allyson, and Parker Gorsuch all of Canton; one brother, John (Lorna) Long of Yates City; cousin, Jim (Janey) McCartney, and many other cousins.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents.
Robert retired from Caterpillar after over 35 years of service. He was a member of the Farmington Moose Lodge 1571 for 30 years. Robert enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, golfing, and anything outdoors. He loved his family but especially loved spoiling his grandkids.
Robert served as a medic in the United States Navy.
A Celebration of Life and burial at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Farmington, IL will be held at a later date. Cremation rites will be accorded with Anderson-Sedgwick Funeral Home in Farmington, IL.
