Darla Marie Tieszen, 54, of Glasford passed away on October 14, 2020 at 8:26 a.m. at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born August 9, 1966 in Peoria to Duane and Alberta Noel (Bailey) Goetze, she married the love of her life Jeff Tieszen on January 4, 1991. He survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Hope (Josh) Moore of Florida; one son, Benjamin Tieszen of Glasford; father, Duane Goetze; two sisters, Tammy (Rick) Smith of Mapleton and Mary Lou (Ron) Janssen of Glasford; one brother, Theodore (Melissa) Goetze of Green Valley; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Alberta Noel Goetze.
Darla worked in education for 32 years. Ten years were spent in Houston, Texas teaching, the last 22 years she taught at Ingersoll Middle School in Canton.
Darla enjoyed reading, studying the bible, baking, family dinners, puzzles, and traveling to the beach with her family. She loved to sew and knit hats for Hope Hats a program she created that donates hats to those in need. She will be missed by all family and friends who knew her.
Her memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at Northwoods Community Church, 10700 North Allen Road, Peoria, Illinois 61615. Private burial will be held at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Mapleton.
