Elmer G. Polhans Jr., 86, of Canton, IL, passed away at 10:40 AM on Monday, October 5, 2020 at his residence. He was born on August 24, 1934 in Ferris, IL to Elmer George and Thelma (Williams) Polhans Sr. He first married Beverly Kreie on May 31, 1953 in Niota, IL, she preceded him in death. He later married Edna Whittington on November 1, 2003 in Canton, IL. She preceded him in death.
Elmer was also preceded in death by his parents, one son, Jackson C. Polhans Jr., and two brothers, David Polhans and Jackson Polhans Sr.
Surviving are five children, Keith M. Polhans of Cuba, IL, Tracy L. Polhans of Phoenix, Arizona, Douglas E. Polhans of Christmas Valley, OR, Benjiman A. Polhans of Pekin, IL, and Yetta (Polhans) Smith of Savannah, GA; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three brothers, James Polhans of Nevada, William Polhans of Fort Madison, IA, and Henry Polhans of Las Vegas, NV; and one sister, Thelma (Polhans) Palm of Oklahoma.
Elmer retired from LTD Industries in Lewistown, IL after several years of service. He was a past member of the Covenant Community Fellowship in Canton, IL and a member of the Masonic Lodge 734 in Canton, IL.
Private burial of ashes will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Canton, IL. Cremation rites will be accorded with Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, IL.
