Canton – Glen V. Armstrong, 78, of Canton, passed away at 8:58 PM on Monday, September 23, 2019 at OSF. St. Francis Medical Center. He was born on October 7, 1940 in Peoria to Glenn and Lillian (Popplewell) Armstrong. He married Carolyn Sue Williams on March 28, 1961 in Pekin, IL, she survives.
Also surviving is one son, Glenn (Kathy) Armstrong in Canton; one granddaughter, Jennifer Armstrong; three great-grandchildren, Glenn Paul Smith, Anthony Mahr Jr. and Caleb Mahr; one brother, David Armstrong of Pekin; and one sister, Sharon Rockhold Gardner of Pekin.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Robert and Paul Armstrong.
Glen retired from Continental Grain in Bartonville, IL. He loved hunting, fishing, and riding four wheelers, especially at his vacation home in Kentucky. Glen was an avid NASCAR, Green bay Football, and St. Louis Cardinals fan. He loved telling stories and jokes to make everyone laugh, but most of all he loved spending time with grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 PM on Friday, September 27, 2019 at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton where a visitation will be held from 1-2 PM. Rev. Kevin VanTine will officiate. Burial will follow at White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton, IL. Memorials can be made to the National Kidney Foundation or American Diabetes Association.
