Shirley Ann Helle

Shirley Ann Helle, 90, of Wells, Minnesota, formerly of Avon, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at Heartland Senior Living – Clark Crossings in Wells, MN. She was born on November 5, 1934 in Fiatt, a daughter of Floyd and Helen (Abbott) Cleer. She married David Helle. He preceded her in death in 2008.

Also, preceding Shirley in death were her parents, her sister Elizabeth Champlin, and sister-in-law Emily Cleer.

Shirley is survived by her children Cynthia Helle of Astoria, David (Janeen) Helle of Rockford, Michigan, and Ramona (Rob) Jacobson of Wells, Minnesota; her grandchildren Joseph, Jacob, Wyatt, Jackson, and Ariel; her great-grandchildren Elijah, Hudson, and Kennedy; her brothers Ray Cleer of Canton, and Dale (Maralyn) Cleer of Hanna City; and brother-in-law Bob Champlin of Canton.

Shirley graduated in 1952 from Canton High School in Canton, and from The Comptometer School of Peoria in 1953. She worked many jobs, as a secretary, teacher’s aide, and a social worker. Shirley served as a Sunday school teacher, helped with Bible school, kid’s club, AWANA, and served as a deaconess. She loved her women’s Bible study.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Fiatt Independent Christian Church and will be officiated by Pastor Ben Williamson. Visitation will be from 9-11:00 AM, before the service on Saturday. The interment will be at Sinnett Chapel Cemetery in Cuba. In lieu of flowers, Shirley’s family asks that memorials are sent to United Hospital District Hospice, 125 South Main Street, Blue Earth, MN 56013.
