Terry Lee Purtle

Terry Lee Purtle, 70, of Canton, passed away at 12:32 PM surrounded by his family on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at Graham Hospital. He was born on December 30, 1950 in Canton to James and Laura (Breese) Purtle. He married Janet Jean Bugos on June 1, 1973 in St. David. She preceded him in death on April 11, 2021.

Terry was also preceded by his parents and three brothers, Jim, John, and Donny.

Surviving are four children; Tammy Russell (Floyd Price), Brenda Kay Russell (Gary Rosich), Kelly Jo Russell, and Terry Lee Purtle Jr, 12 grandchildren; Melissa Mae Porter (Joe Buskirk), Tommy Lee Kruzan (Jackie Hammond), Joshaua Allen Russell, Ryan Lee Russell (Cassie Jump), Kaylee Lynn Beyers (Tyler Snowden), Jammie Nicole Bishop, Jessica Dawn Reedy, Jerrica Lynne Bowton (Patrick Bickel), River Purtle, Riot Purtle, Casey (Joann Bump) Peltier, and Zachary Ryan (Stephani) Clenever; 14 great grandchildren; one great-great-grandson, Zeke Ryan Clenever; and four brothers, Bill, Jack, Joe, and Oscar.

Terry worked at the Fulton County Highway Department and also was a dishwasher at Wee-Ma-Tuk Club House. He was a member of the Eagles Club in 1980. Terry could clear a pool table faster than most and loved the outdoors, teaching his kids and grandkids to clean fish, cook mushrooms, and how to catch a snapping turtle with his bare hands. He loved going on drives with the love of his life, Janet, always stopping at new places to eat and never driving by a yard sale. There was always some type of wildlife in his home. He loved his beloved dogs; surviving are Pebbles and Bam Bam. Benji and Emily Sue preceded Terry in death.

Per Terry’s request, there will be no services at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Cremation rites will be accorded with Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, IL. Sympathy cards can be sent to the family’s address.
