Alfred "Al" L. Hess, 92, of Cuba, passed away, Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at Red Oak Estates in Canton.
He was born on January 18, 1929 in Mason County, to Alfred and Mabel (McCoy) Hess. They preceded him in death.
Al first married Barbara (Shaffer)Burgett. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Lois B. (Fidler) Thum - Hess. They married on December 18, 1986 in Canton.
Also Surviving are two children, Gregory (Trisha) Hess of Pekin, Lisa (Chris) Bradfield of Kansas City Missouri, five step children, Charles "Chuck" Thum of Tennessee, Joseph (Holly) Thum of Smithfield, Penny (Dave) Grady of Kansas City Missouri, Edward Ray (Gretchen) Thum of Smithfield and Aaron (Veanna) Thum of Canton, nineteen grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
Al was a Veteran of the United States Army and was a member of the Canton American Legion. He worked as a control room operator at Cilco powerhouse retiring in 1991. He enjoyed playing cards, golfing, fishing and watching the St. Louis Cardinals. Most of all Al loved spending time with all his family.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2021, at 3:00 p.m., at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the services.
Burial with Military Honors will be held at White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton.
Due to COVID 19 mandates masks and social distancing are required.
Memorials may be made to the Canton American Legion.
