Jack L. Essex, 83, of Dunfermline passed away at 11:27 p.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2016, at Graham Hospital in Canton.
He was born February 13, 1933, in
Canton to Howard “Boots” and Fern (Sexton) Essex. He married Agnes Marinich on April 14, 1956,
in Canton. She preceded him in death on
September 16, 2012.
He is survived by his two sons,
Jack H. Essex and Alan L. (Susan) Essex, both of Dunfermline; four
grandchildren, Andy (Carissa) Moser, Justin Moser, Mallory (Matt) Beoletto, and
Nick Essex; two great-granddaughters, Lainey
and Laiken; and was expecting his first great-grandson, Grayson Beoletto,
in October of this year.
He was preceded in death by his
parents; one brother, Charles “Chuck” Essex; and four sisters, Barbara Balbinot,
Shirley Jarnagin, Pat Essex, and Jane Buntin.
Jack was a veteran, serving as a
Sergeant in the United States Army. He
worked as a caster for Keystone Steel & Wire, retiring in 1993. An avid outdoorsman, Jack enjoyed mushroom
hunting, fishing, hunting, and tending to his garden. He also enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren
and cheering on his Chicago Cubs.
Jack was a member of the Canton
VFW Post 1984, the Canton American Legion Post 16, and St. Michael’s Catholic
Church in St. David.
A funeral mass will be held at
11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in St.
David, where visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the service. Burial, with military honors, will be at
Highbridge Cemetery in Dunfermline.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude
Children’s Hospital or to the St. Michael’s Church Club.
