Canton – Azell “Sam” Mackey, 89, of Canton, passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2016, at the Graham Hospital in Canton.
He was born on July 26, 1926 in Milton Oklahoma, to Joe and Anna Lee (Henderson) Mackey. They preceded him in death.
He married Herscile Tyler on May 21, 1947 in Canton. She preceded him in death.
Surviving are his children, Kurt Mackey of Peoria, Anita (Rev. Monroe) Bailey of Canton, Samuel (Kristal) Mackey of Canton, Joe Mackey of Canton, Lynn (Scott) Wirebaugh of Canton, brothers, A.L. Mackey, Ray Mackey, sister, O’Dean Leek, thirteen grandchildren and several great and great great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by Three children, Paul Mackey, Kelly Michelle Mackey, Betty June Mackey, one brother, four sisters and one grandson Todd Mackey.
Sam retired from International Harvester in Canton after 30 years of service. He was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church in Peoria and enjoyed bowling and fishing. Most of all he was a loving family man.
A visitation will be held on Monday, June 6, 2016, from 5-7 pm, at the Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton with a funeral service on Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at 10 am, at the funeral home.
Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery in Canton.
