He was born December 20, 1933 in Breeds to John H. and Maude (Foulk) Peterson. He first married Kathleen Stevens and later married Barbara Snook.
Surviving are nine children, Michael (Sue) Peterson of Canton, Debra Parker of Georgia, Joyce (Bill) Homan of Trivoli, Don (Sandy) Peterson of Woodward, OK, John (Diane) Peterson of Mt. Morris, and David (Kerrie) Peterson, Phillip (Kris) Peterson, Bobbie (Tom) Renner, and Billie (Dennis) Quaco all of Polo; twenty four grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents, one great granddaughter, seven brothers, and three sisters.
Ernest worked in construction.
He was a member of the VFW of Canton and was a Korean War Veteran.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
There will be no services.
Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home, Canton is in charge of arrangements.
