Occupation: his first job was working in the mechanic shop at Camp Ellis in Ipava, IL. He went on to work as a coal miner, he worked at Astoria Body Corporation, and as a welder at Fiber Steel in Astoria. 

Memberships: Shorty Bill served on the Astoria Town Board for 25 years. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was a hard worker who liked to garden, dance, and loved his family.
