Lewistown – Betty J. Ramey Keene, 87, of Lewistown, passed away at 5:20 PM on Friday, February 7, 2020 at The Loft in Canton. She was born on April 21, 1932 in Clinton, IN to James Mckinley and Iva Grace (Cox) Graves. She first married Donald R. Ramey on August 28, 1948 in Vincennes, IN, he preceded her in death on May 18, 1976. She later married Robert W. Keene on June 28, 1986 in Cuba, IL, he preceded her in death on September 17, 2000.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter, Brenda Sue; four sons, James, Ted, Jon, and Joe Ramey; three sisters, Lucille Newton, Pippie Mathias, and Junetta Lunsford.
Betty is survived by four children, Nelson Ramey of Marietta, GA, Donna (Jack) Stutsman of Lewistown, IL, Marsha Gazelle of Canton, IL, and Cindy McGehee of Westville, IL; eighteen grandchildren, thirty three great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren; five step-children, Bob (Barb) Keene of Peoria, IL, Steve Keene of Jacksonville, IL, Dick (Marsha) Keene of Macomb, IL, Nita Hughes of Liverpool, IL, and Sue McCance of Cuba, IL; fourteen step-grandchildren, twenty one step-great-grandchildren; and 3 step-great-great-grandchildren.
Betty drove a school bus for over 20 years in Farmington, Georgetown, and Lewistown. Family was everything to her and she loved them all unconditionally. Betty enjoyed family activities and watching family participate in school events especially sports. After retirement she loved traveling with her husband Bob.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Cremation rites will be accorded through Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Wounded Warrior Project. To leave online condolences you may go to www.sedgwickfunealhomes.com
