Farmington – Dane E. Dilts, 90, of Farmington, passed away at 10:10 PM October 11th, 2015 at Heartland Healthcare Center in Canton. He was born on February 17th, 1925 in Fiatt, Illinois to Wesley and Ollivine (Rock) Dilts. He married Barbara J Blagden on July 31st, 1949 in Canton, she preceded him in death.
Surviving are three children, D. Alan and (Linda) Dilts of Canton, Brad and (Shirley) Dilts of Farmington, and Martha and (Dale) Vahlkamp of Gillette, Wyoming, six grandchildren; Amy, Jayme, Brandon, Alisha, Danae, and Beth, six great-grandchildren; Landon, Leah, Ryleigh, Keighley, Drew, and Josie, one brother Raymond (June) Dilts of Seville, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
Dane worked as an engineer at the Caterpillar Tractor Company for 35 Years. He was an alderman in Farmington, as well as a zoning officer. Dane was a member of the Farmington American Legion , VFW in Canton; he was the past District Commander of Legion, past Commander of Fulton County, Scout Master Troop #79, a veteran of the Navy, serving during the WWII and Korean Conflict.
Services will be at 11:00 am on Friday, October 16th, 2015 Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home in Canton, where the visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 PM. Rev. Tim Bauler will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakridge Cemetery at Farmington. Memorials can be made to the Alzheimer’s association or to Farmington Boys State.
