Tina S. Althiser, 59, of Ipava, IL, passed early Monday, July 12, 2021, at her home, with her loving husband by her side.
She was born on August 3, 1961, in Rushville, IL to Marjorie Phillips
and raised by her Grandfather, Walter Phillips. On January 25, 1980,
Tina married the love of her life, Jeffrey Althiser, he survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Brittney Althiser, Brooke Meyer, and
one son, Brenten Althiser. Although Tina only had three children, she
was a mother to many. Tina was blessed with six grandchildren who were
the light of her life. Ford, Dallas, and Oakley Meyer and Maisie, Cora,
and Charlie Althiser were the main driving force of her fight to live
with carcinoid cancer.
Also surviving are her brother, Larry Phillips, and sister-in-law, Tina
(and Mark) Kessler, as well as five nephews Joe (and Cathy) Phillips,
Shaun (and Kayla) Phillips, Adam (and Toni) Phillips, Chad Phillips,
Seth (and Kylie) Kessler, and one niece Ali Kessler. She is also
survived by her in-laws, Les and Sue Althiser.
Tina is preceded in death by her mother, Marjorie Phillips, grandfather, Walter Phillips, and niece Mindy (Phillips) Koch.
Tina was part of a large, close-knit family with numerous aunts, uncles,
and cousins. While she loved them all, she shared her final days being
cared for by three of her cousins. Lori Phillips supported her since
her fight began, including doctor visits and ER trips. Melinda Myers
helped her put her dreams into action at her new home and provided her
with unending support. And most recently, Dianna Graham made herself
available at all hours during her final weeks.
The simplest pleasures brought joy to Tina’s life; she was happiest
surrounded by her loved ones. She enjoyed fishing, arrowhead hunting,
and game nights with family and friends. Jeff and Tina shared 41 years
of marriage, building a love for the ages.
Services will be held at 3 pm on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Shawgo
Memorial Home in Astoria. Pastor Steve Castaneda will be officiating. A
visitation will take place from 1 to 3 pm before the service on
Saturday. Interment will be in the Ipava cemetery. Memorials may be made
to the donor’s choice.
