John D. Stell, 84, of St. David, passed away at 9:20 PM on Monday, December 16, 2019 at Graham Hospital in Canton he was born on February 1, 1935 in Canton, a son of Arthur and Maxine (Whitehead) Stell. He married Dixie “Pat” Sawyer on October 24, 1954 in Canton. She preceded him in death on October 10, 2015.
Also preceding him in death is his parents, and one grandson, Joshua Hackett.
Surviving are his children, Nancy (Lee) Hackett of Bryant; Brenda Stell of St. David; David (Debbie) Stell of Lewistown; three grandchildren, Beth (Jerry) Wallace, Karissa Stell, Nate Stell, and three great-grandchildren, Kaycee Roberts, Jacob Roberts, and Izadora Herche.
John worked and later retired from Caterpillar, Inc., was a loyal member of the UAW Local # 974, and member of the St David Optimist Club. He was an avid Duck and Goose Hunter. His greatest love was his grandchildren and his beloved dog, Fiona.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 PM (Noon) on Friday, December 20, 2019 at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory, where visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the services. Pastor Ellen Dodd will officiate. Burial will be in Maryville Cemetery in Bryant. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.
