She was born September 4, 1912 in Lewistown, IL; the daughter of Charles Andrew and Elizabeth (Hughes) Mustered. She married Roy Jacobs on August 1, 1931 in Crown Point, IN. Roy Jacobs died January 4, 1997. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Elena Wood, four brothers, and three sisters and a grandson, Dean Sheets. Surviving are two children, Harry (Kay) Jacobs of Hamburg, NY and Joyce (Ken) Jones of Galesburg, IL; Eight grandchildren, and many great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.
Sylvia worked at Sears and Roebuck ; Newmann’s Men Store; and the Berean Book Store. She also completed a course at Dale Carnegie. Sylvia was a member and former chairperson of the Wee-ma-Tuk ladies golf association and also a member of the Ladies Missionary Circle at First Baptist Church. She also took up painting in her 70’s and a talent was born late in life.
Sylvia was a faithful Christ follower, attending Church services wherever life took her. She spent her whole life serving the Lord and others through her works, thoughts and prayers.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, October 12, 2018 at the Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery at Lewistown. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the memorial home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Online condolences may be made at henrylange.com.
